The Proposal

We were on our third annual ski trip to Colorado in January 2006. Chris had been planning to propose to Holly on that trip since the previous August! Friends and co-workers Angie and Mark Mikkelson knew of the plans and came on the trip as well. Chris felt this would be the perfect time to propose because that month was our 2 years dating anniversary and also, we both loved skiing and Colorado is a special place for us. Also, it was during our first ski trip in March 2004 that Chris said “I love you” for the first time (Holly felt the same :).
On our second night of the ski trip, Chris made plans for us to eat at a nice Italian restaurant called Deno’s. We were sat next to a fireplace and had a wonderful dinner. After dinner Chris was staring into the fire and we were holding hands over the table and he said “You’ve made my life so much better” which made Holly gush and she basically said ditto. Then Chris said “I love you very much” and put his other hand on the table and put a ring box in front of Holly and said “this is for you.” Holly immediately started bawling and after a few seconds opened up the ring box (then she said yes) :)
The manager came over and asked Chris if Holly said yes and then lit some candles on the fireplace and took a couple pictures of us. She told us her husband had proposed to her at a booth across the way 29 years ago!
The rest of the night was spent calling family and friends and talking with Angie and Mark while sharing a bottle of wine.
